Properties: White or colorless translucent lump or powder with irritating ammonia taste. It gradually turns ammonium bicarbonate in the air. It breaks up into ammonia and carbon dioxide if it is heated to 550℃. Soluble in water, insoluble in stronger ammonia water and ethyl alcohol.
Uses: as analytical reagent, In preparing carbonate. In spot analysis of radium, lithium and thorium.
